Thank you for such a thorough researching. Such a long history and older cultures have so much to teach us. I only use a few drops of sesame oil when I cook and now I will know not to use it in stir fly for the main cooking oil. 🙏😊
I learned the hard way that sesame oil has a low smoking point - I tried to add a few drops of it to my usual coconut oil at the beginning of the stir fry, and I not only filled my whole house with smoke, but also burned the bottom of the pan pretty severely. 😞 I didn't know there was a difference between the flavoring and frying kinds! I just was using whatever they had at the grocery store. Wish I would have watched this video first. I was also surprised how much the sesame flower you showed at 3:42 looks like Foxglove! It's very pretty. Makes me wonder if I can grow it in my climate...a new thing to research! 🙂
Sesame oil has many medicinal properties. Many Ayurvedic medicines have a sesame oil as base. Sesame oil is used in South India. Sesame seeds sweets are eaten all over India.
I cooked my stir fry without a wok yesterday and added sesame seed oil at the end of the dish. A couple of turns and it was beutiful. I doubt my pan gets over 300 degrees anyway. I probably wont use it again after watching this video though

@@wokwithtakHigh smoking point is the basic nature of sesame oil. It does not depend on brand. It should be cold press. Even you can search more on google for your reference. In Indian cooking we use sesame oil for deep frying too and its healthy. I use any Indian brand.
Usually, East Asian sesame oils are made from finely roasted sesame and have a bitter taste when cooked. You should put a few drops of this sesame oil on meals just before serving. On the other hand, regular sesame oil is made from sesame just roasted to pop the oil ingredient of sesame. You can use regular sesame oil as other vegetable oils to cook to fry etc...
I love this kind of cooking trivia. Ground, roasted sesame seeds make a nutritious flavor-enhancing thickener for soup.
Fascinating to learn alright. Finds a rabbit hole, digs down, then aggregates and conveyed with honesty. Your lesson was more than just sesame oils.

I think it's wonderful with stir fry
What if you add some sesame oil to a stir fry sauce once it’s ready????
The internet cannot comprehend that there is more than one type of sesame oil. The idea that people cook with toasted seed oil is funny.
